There are independent solo doulas who work part time, doula agencies who contract doulas to support their clients, doula partnerships that may share call schedules, and collectives such as ours. We each run our own businesses with unique offerings to match our skills and individual business goals, but we have the strength of being a team to grow in our profession and to be able to guarantee exceptional back-up support to our clients when it is needed. We think there are a lot of reasons that the collective model is the best for us as professionals, and the best for the families we serve. Here's why:
We support each other. We offer encouragement, wisdom, and friendship to one another, all of which contribute to our growth as women and doulas. We are invested in each other! We trust each other. When we need to send a back-up doula to our clients we feel completely confident in the quality of support and care they will receive from any of the doulas in our collective, knowing that they have similar experience levels and views on doula support. We can guarantee that our clients will have support. Families can be completely sure that they will have support. Life and birth can be unpredictable and labor will happen whether a doula is healthy or sick, or has a flat tire, or another family is already birthing with her support. We cannot control these things, but we can send an amazing back-up doula when the unpredictable happens! We are there for each other so we can be here for you!
