Journey of Motherhood Joanne certified as a birth doula with DONA in 1999. In addition to her doula services she offers support prenatally through pregnancy massage and teaches both Calm Birth® prenatal self-healing and Hypnobabies® Hypnosis for Childbirth classes. Joanne’s goal as a doula is to reflect to each woman her strength, capacity and grace, to be a resource as needed and to provide a calm, loving presence at this precious time of life. By offering each family she serves individualized instruction in HUG™ Your Baby and Baby’s First Massage®, she hopes to make the first days and weeks with a new baby easier for all. Joanne lives in Durham, has two daughters of her own, and a lovely grandchild. |
Julie McBurney
Blissful Births & Placenta Bliss Julie has attended births throughout the Triangle since 2005. The birth of her first born created a passion for birth and breastfeeding. Now Julie has attended over 440 births as a DONA Certified Birth Doula, and 13 years supporting breastfeeding in her community as a credited leader. Julie hopes to guide you through your journey into parenthood, as a Birth Doula, a Childbirth Educator, IPPA Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist, or Bridge To Breastfeeding (Bodyfeeding/Chestfeeding) Facilitator. Julie lives in Raleigh with her husband, 3 children and their dog. |
Andrea Denali
Restoring Balance Andrea is a mother of two amazing boys and has been walking alongside families as a professional doula and childbirth educator since 2005. She offers holistic, experienced care in the childbearing years through unique prenatal classes, birth doula care, and ongoing support postpartum. She practices as a Birth and Postpartum Doula, Certified Childbirth Educator, ALPP Certified Lactation Counselor, IPPA Trained Placenta Encapsulation Specialist. She is also a licensed massage and bodywork therapist at Restoring Balance in Chapel Hill. Andrea's intention as a birth guide is to support the vibrant health of families and ease the process of birthing + parenting in body, heart, and mind. In 2021, Andrea is primarily offering birthing classes, massage, and doula care to repeat clients. |
Johanna Wright
Loving Hands Doula Care Johanna is a DONA Certified Birth Doula and has been supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum since 2009. She has training and experience in a wide range of additional services, including sibling doula support, lactation support, belly binding, and postpartum care including overnight support. Clients often comment on her quiet, calm, and comforting presence. Her desire is to see families grow in confidence and joy as they experience nurturing care through birth and parenting. Johanna lives in Mebane with her husband and their three children. |
Mariam Lam
Designated Doula Mariam is a DONA Certified Birth Doula and Certified Lamaze International Childbirth Educator. Mariam brings a “back-to-basics” approach utilizing traditional and proven methods of physical and emotional support, along with hands-on prenatal, labor, birth, and postpartum support. Her mission is to provide others with the prenatal, labor, and birth support that everyone deserves. Mariam resides in Durham, with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she enjoys being near friends and family, nature walks, crocheting, and cooking with her son. |
Devon Linton Handel
Birth and Breath Devon is a Birth Doula and Yoga Instructor. Devon has offered support for birthing people & their partners in the Triangle area since early 2014. Devon's passion is working with couples and people as a guide on the path to parenthood; helping to normalize & make special the pregnancy, labor, birth, and early postpartum experience. She brings a calming presence, knowledge and experience with physiologic birth, and evidence based education. Devon is also certified in prenatal yoga, and offers private sessions with clients in their homes. She lives in Pittsboro with her husband and their two daughters, dogs, cats, and backyard chickens. |
Jenny Carmichael Finn
Blossom Jenny is a Birth and Postpartum Doula in the Triangle and Surrounding Areas. Jenny has been a prominent part of the birth community since 2002, she chose to train through DONA International in 2016. Jenny believes that having a person who believes utterly in your strength and agency, while holding space for you to be vulnerable… that seeming contradiction is at the heart of being a doula. Jenny has 4 children of her own, a grandchild, and lives in Knightdale with her husband, backyard ducks, and cats. |
